From the 1st to the 15th day of the first Lunar month.

On these days all positive and negative actions multiply 100,000 times.

Venerable Sabchu Rinpoche posted the following text in 2022:

A long time ago, the historical Buddha, the Sage of the Śākyas, displayed miracles everyday for fifteen, waxing moon days consecutively, culminating on full moon. This month’s lunar cycle, and specifically today, the full moon day, marks the anniversary of the said activity. Following the existing convention of celebrating and commemorating the Four Exceptional Days called Duchens, today, we mark Chotrul Duchen. Just as he inspired numerous beings in Śrāvastī then, the Teacher still inspires limitless beings to become the best that they can possibly become.

Commemorating his enlightened activity, let us fervently venerate the Buddha, the perfectly-enlightened being, the teacher of teachers, the lion amongst men.

To assist you, I offer a few verses of homage, excerpted from various old, sacred scriptures. Palms joined together, please recite the following passages meaningfully while cultivating joy and appreciation for what he expressly shared with the world.

When you were born, chief among human beings,
You took seven steps on this earth and said:
“In this world I am supreme.”

To you, O wise one, I pay homage!

~ Sūtra of the Meeting of the Father and Son

Enthused by great compassion,
You taught the immaculate Dharma
To dispel all perverted views.
To you, the Buddha Gautama, I pay homage.

~ Nāgārjuna, Mūlamadhyamakakārikā or Root Verses on the Middle Way

With skilful means and compassion, you were born in the Śākya clan,
Unconquerable by others, you vanquished Māra's hordes,

Your physical form resplendent, like a mountain of gold.
To you, the King of the Śākyas, I pay homage!

~ Nāgārjuna

You’ve the purest of bodies, the finest of forms.
You’re an ocean of wisdom, a mountain of gold.

Your fame resounds throughout the three worlds.
I prostrate to you, the protector who achieved the ultimate.

~ Ratnaketu Dhāraṇī

You have the great marks and a face like the stainless moon.
I prostrate to you whose color is like gold.
You are immaculate; there is no one like you in the three worlds.
I prostrate to and praise you whose great wisdom is peerless.

~ Sūtra Requested by Noble Rāṣṭrapāla

།མཉན་ཡོད་བཞུགས་པ་དེ་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ལོ། །

Best among humans, the tathāgata
Tames us and guides; he cuts the bonds and fetters.
His faculties peaceful, pacified, skilled in peace—
To him who dwelled in Śrāvastī, I prostrate.

~ Vinayavibhaṅga

With your great compassion, you embraced this turbulent and degenerate world,
and made five hundred mighty aspirations.
You are as exalted as the white lotus; whoever hears your name shall never return to samsara—
most compassionate teacher, to you I pay homage!

~ Mipham Rinpoche (1846–1912)
